Han Chiang College hosts Media Forum 2009
PENANG: Some 100 media practitioners, academics and students are expected to attend the Media Forum 2009 at Han Chiang College on June 9, 2009 from 9.00am to 12.00pm.
The speakers for the Forum, jointly organised by the College’s Research and Development Unit and School of Communication are Professor James Chin from Monash University of Malaysia and Associate Professor Zaharom Nain from the Centre for Policy Research and International Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia.
The Forum which is open to the public will be chaired by YB Liew Chin Tong, the Member of Parliament for Bukit Bendera, Penang.
The theme for this Forum is “Rethinking Media Roles: A Malaysian Context.”
Besides stimulating discussions on the role and challenges faced by the contemporary media, the Forum is also aimed at enabling the College to play a more active role in academic research and bridging media scholars in Malaysia.

About the Research and Development Unit, Han Chiang College
The Research and Development Unit of Han Chiang College provides an academic research platform for Han Chiang College academic staff. It is responsible for the publication of multi-disciplinary Journal of Han Chiang College. To date, four volumes of the Journal have been published.
About the School of Communication, Han Chiang College
The School of Communication at Han Chiang College offers Diploma in Mass Communication, Diploma in Broadcast Journalism and Foundation in Communication. The Foundation in Communication is a pathway for students to pursue the Bachelor in Mass Communication, University of Southern Queensland, Australia at the College which will be offered soon.
All the programmes offered are designed to produce graduates who are confident, creative, skillful, versatile and ready to embark on a challenging career in the media and communications industries.
